Thermal Infrared Imaging
With the use of a thermal infrared camera (TIC) that is used during the Home Energy Audit, the inspector can detect all the points of energy loss in the home with ease. The thermal imaging camera uses infrared technology to detect variances in infrared radiation being emitted from the surface that is scanned by the camera. The thermal imaging camera detects temperature differences between objects. If there is no temperature difference, or the difference is outside the range of the detection device, the camera cannot differentiate between objects. The temperature differences detected by the camera can represent dampness, water leaks, insulation defects and thermal bypasses in structures.
